Family book group

On the third Thursday each month at 5 pm, we have a family book discussion group with food of some sort. Each month we pick a topic and people read (or are read to) books at their age level on the topic. The topics are usually pretty general so that everyone can find books at their age level. Some of the topics have been:

February: weather
March: historical mystery
April: American history
June: animals with unusual noses

For the past couple of months I have been meaning to write down all the books that we read. Finally last week I remembered to do it. July’s topic was India. We read:

Younguncle Comes to Town by Vandana Singh
Naming Maya by Uma Krishnaswami
Why We Left: I Remember India by Anita Ganeri
The Birdman by Veronika Charles
Hindu Mandir by Angela Wood
Taj Mahal by Shawndra Shofner

Next month our topic is FOOD! Feel free to join us. You can read fiction or non-fiction. If you need any suggestions, feel free to ask.
