Poetry Friday – Cries From the Lunch Box

“Cries from the Lunch Box” from The Good who Invented Homework by Kalli Dakos

Sandwich: It’s not fair,
It’s not fair,
To have cheese,
For underwear.

Apple: Would you prefer
To roll around,
Bottoms up,
Stem on the ground?

Raisins: We used to be
Plump juicy grapes,
Now we’re dried-up
Wrinkled shapes.

Milk: Four gulps,
Three slurps,
Yum-yum-yum!
Look out,
Stomach,
Here I come!
