Open Them, Shut Them
My son Jack loves this rhyme:
Open Them (open hands) Shut Them (close hands)
Open Them Shut Them
Give a little CLAP CLAP CLAP!
Open Them Shut Them
Open Them Shut Them
Put them in your LAP LAP LAP!
Creep Them Creep Them
Creep Them Creep Them
Right up to your CHIN CHIN CHIN!
Open up your mouth…
but do not put them in!
Should you want to learn how to sing the song, I can be enticed by smiling little faces anytime I’m at the library.

I don’t know, but I have asked the other children’s librarians in my library system and I will try and find out for you!

Okay! I asked my fellow librarians, and I was told: Marjorie Best Johnson wrote the original poem. It can be found in Marion Grayson’s Let’s Do Fingerplays.
